hi,

i'm listening to the recording and trying to follow with the hazzat but i keep getting lost,

even when saying a hymn that i know while following the hazzat i have difficulty

ive read the info at help on how to use it but still i find it challenging, i'm not really used  to this hazat form (i'm used to a different style) and would like to get used to it and be confortably with this style, so i would like any tips or guidance!

thanks i believe the use of hazzat is really good and commend the website for providing them, its fantastic work, but for some reason its just not working well for me

any kind of advice/extra help is most appreciated

pray for my weakness,

Abram

p.s.  what kind of recording should i used with the hazzat? Ibrahim Ayad and it it meant to be read from bottom to up?

Hey Abram,

I usually do the hazzat according to the way Ibrahim Ayad chants it just for consistency's sake.  Which hymn are you trying to follow?

It's possible that there's a mistake in the hazzat that's throwing you off.  In general though, here are some hints that could help you read the hazzat:

- The hazzat are read from the bottom up.

- They don't say anything about the pitch, they only hint about higher or lower note using the arrow up or down

- The length of each hazza is relative to the length of the note.  Example a hazza that is twice as long as another means that you should hold the note for twice as long.

Hope this helps!

P.S:  You meantioned that you're used to a different style of hazzat.  Which ones are you talking about?

thanks Fadyham,  that will definately help!

the hazzat that i'm used is what my old teacher used and is well vertical (vertical based not horizontal) with some horizontal bits coming off the top of the vertical lines indicating an emphasis or something special about the hazza eg quick vibration and the pitch is shown by the heights of the hazza relative too each other, speed or how quick the hazzat are together indicated by the distance between the hazzats, are you familiar with this or other hazzats?

but i'd like to get better with this hazzat font as this site holds a wealth of absolutely valuable hazzats

i think the the hazzats on this website should use the arrows more often! or find a way to incorporate pitch better just for clarity.

i mainly have difficulty with shere the praxis response, but others include esmou epchois and tenen of tasbeha

thanks

I'm not familiar with this type of hazzat.  Is this standard?  Do alot of people know how to read it?

The arrows are usually placed in critial places that could be potentially confused with a different part in a different (or the same hymn).  For example, in Pek Ethronos, some arrows are meant to save you from going to a different repetition.  The same thing also is in Fai Etaf Enf.

All the hazzat for these hymns were written according to the recordings of Ibrahim Ayad.  Hope this helps...
